Making OpenAI my best friend

Jan 28, 22

I mentioned in the footnotes yesterday that I would like to build an app that leverages OpenAI/GPT-3.

I have been on their beta program for a little while, but to be honest I had completely forgotten about it.

Well, as it turns out - I still have $17 worth of free credit that I have to use before Tuesday.

As I have already imbibed a couple of vodka and cokes, and coherent thoughts are slowly beginning to fade into the urge to watch funny cat videos on youtube, I figured I could ask it for ideas for a start up based on the name casually.io.

This thing is the future, and is scarily good.

Within the OpenAI playground, I asked GPT-3 this question:

write a blog post about launching a start up called casually.io

and here are it’s responses:

“Casually is a web and mobile app that connects people in real life. Whether you’re looking for friends, activity partners, or a romantic partner, Casually helps you find them.

We’re excited to announce the launch of our new start up, Casually.io. We’ve been working hard to build the best possible product and we’re excited to see what the future holds.

Casually is the perfect way to meet new people. Whether you’re looking for friends, activity partners, or a romantic partner, Casually helps you find them. We’ve built a great community of people who are looking to connect in real life, and we’re just getting started.

  • Sounds compelling - sign me up!

  • Love the rhetorical question on this one - it really does grip the reader

“If you’re like most people, you have a lot of ideas for start-ups that you’d love to launch. But, you don’t have the time or resources to actually make them happen. That’s where casually.io comes in.

Casually.io is a simple, easy to use platform that helps you turn your start-up idea into a reality. It’s perfect for anyone who wants to launch a start-up without all the stress and hassle.

  • Wow, this one actually sounds like it could work

The craziest thing about this whole process, was that it took literally 30 seconds and 4 mouse clicks to generate all of the above content, and it sounds like it was written by a semi competent copywriter.

I honestly think the meta play here is to create an app that leverages OpenAI to create procedurally generated content for companies.

I will be researching over the weekend to find an angle, but this is really exciting.
