Brainstorming continued

Jan 27, 22

I have had 24 hours to calm down after my little outburst about the gym yesterday, and I have realised that there isn’t anything I can do immediately to make the gym less busy.

According to the nice chap behind the reception, we should be back to normal in around 6 weeks, so now it’s really just a waiting game…

With the top of the list due to take care of itself by early March, I feel as though it would be prudent to the next issue on my list - people posting their wordle scores.

I set out for my evening walk, hoping an idea would shake itself loose while I pounded the pavement.

“All truly great thoughts are conceived while walking.” Friedrich Nietzsche

Yes, I quoted Nietzsche - so you know this blog is taking itself seriously.

I have nothing against wordle, but the posting of the ‘scores’ just seems so weird, like - who really cares? The other thing is that all of the wordle code is downloaded directly into the user’s browser, along with the full word list, handily ordered by the day they are due to appear. It took me around 10 mins to make a wordle ‘predictor’ that has all of the answers for the next ~6 years.

Maybe I am just bitter about people posting their scores because I have ruined the game for myself?

No, it’s everyone else that is the problem

“Every word(le score) is like an unnecessary stain on silence and nothingness.” Samuel Beckett

Anyway - all of this to say that I really want to create a little game on casually.io that has a built in leaderboard, so people don’t need to share their scores, they can see them with their EYEBALLS on the platform.

Here is a small list of ideas

  • wordle clone
  • hangman
  • anagram guesser
  • find an obscure board/word game and convert it into a bitesize game that can scored

Basically I want to steal an established idea, and turn it into a shit app

“Good artists borrow, great artists steal.” Alan Partridge

The brainstorming will continue, and I will flesh out some ideas - but I feel like this should be a fun project

Bye.

as an aside, I also want to use GPT-3 for a project, so leaving this here as a reminder for myself to use it for one of the other domains
